Today while on a walk in the forest I noticed that during some moments, the field of vision became suddenly very grey, as if there was a fog settling in or your eyes were becoming clouded over. It was the effect produced by many vertical tree trunks that were of a uniformly grey colour.
The shrubbery below and the branches against the sky above appeared usual. The disconcerting optical illusion occurred at eye level when you looked deep into the forest, as if a void had suddenly started to exist in plain sight.
